JACKSON, Tenn.-Christian Brothers University sophomore
Bernado Ferreira (Torres Vedras, Portugal, Secundaria Madeira Torres) scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to lift the Bucs to a 2-1 win at Union Saturday in the final Gulf South Conference game of the season for both squads.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (8-6-0, 3-5-0 GSC) opened the scoring in the 41st minute, when
Alejandro Chinas Lopez (Edo Mexico, Mexico/Mira Costa HS) headed in a corner kick from
Jannick Baumer (Emmendingen, Germany/Goethe-Gymnasium Emmendingen), finding the lower right corner of the net.
• Union (5-10-0, 3-6-0) equalized in the 78th minute, when goalkeeper Igor Luczensky converted a penalty.
• Ferreira scored the game-winner in the 85th minute, scoring off an assist from
Brendan Bennett (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School) when he shot the ball into the top left corner of the net.
KEY STATS:
• CBU out-shot the Bulldogs 11-10 for the game, including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.
•
Viktor Hoestbo (Stenloese, Denmark/Oesterhoejskolen) made one save for the Bucs, stopping a Luczensky shot in the 89th minute.

The Bucs wrap up their 2016 season with two non-conference games this week. Wednesday night at 7 p.m. they visit Montevallo, while they wrap up the season Saturday night at 7 p.m. as they host Auburn-Montgomery.
