Argos Storm Bucs 75-59

PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida used a 19-0 run sandwiching the halftime break to take a 51-24 lead, and they withstood a furious Christian Brothers University rally to claim a 75-59 win over the Bucs Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Argos (5-16, 4-14) opened the game on a 15-7 run capped by a Jason Laatsch triple with 12:51 remaining in the first half.
• The Bucs (11-13, 9-9 GSC) never came closer than four points in the first half, and the Argos scored the final eight points of the first half, then the first 11 of the second, to pull away to a 51-24 lead on another Laatsch triple with 15:41 remaining in the game.
• The Bucs answered with a 23-3 run over the next eight minutes to close within 54-47 on a Jordan Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) three-pointer with 7:25 to play.
• UWF responded with back-to-back baskets by Austin Somerfield, and they never allowed CBU closer than nine points in the final five minutes.

KEY STATS:
• Miller scored a career-high 24 points with six rebounds, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) added 19 points with four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
• The Bucs shot 35.8 percent (19-of-53) for the game, including 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from three-point range.
• The Argos shot 51.1 percent (23-of-45) for the game, including 35.3 percent (6-of-17) from beyond the arc.
• The Argos out-rebounded CBU 36-30, but the Bucs held a 10-4 edge in offensive rebounds and forced 17 UWF turnovers while committing 13.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit Valdosta State. Their final home game is set for Thursday night at 7 p.m. as they host Alabama Huntsville.
