Lions’ Rally Spoils Bucs’ Senior Day

MEMPHIS-Visiting North Alabama scored 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning as they rallied for a 12-5 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs to spoil CBU's Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lions (24-20, 15-15 GSC) opened the scoring with a two-out solo homer by Kevin Hall in the top of the first inning.
• UNA doubled its advantage an inning later, using two errors, a stolen base and a fielder's choice to scratch out a one-out run.
• The Bucs (9-35, 1-29) cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third. Nick Traylor (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) reached on an infield single and moved around to third on groundouts by Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and Josh Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy). A Lucas Castleberry (Bryant, Ark./Bryant HS) single brought him in to bring the Bucs within a 2-1 margin.
• CBU took the lead with a three-run fifth inning. Traylor worked a one-out walk, and Johnson followed with a two-out walk. Castleberry doubled down the right field line to bring Traylor home, and a two-run Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) double to right gave the Bucs a 4-2 lead.
• The Bucs added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Castleberry hit a leadoff homer to center.
• The Lions exploded for 10 runs in the top of the eighth on four walks, six singles and a double.
