MOBILE, Ala.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs took an early two-goal lead, but host Spring Hill scored the final three goals to rally for a 3-2 win Friday afternoon in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (2-2-0, 0-1-0 GSC) struck first in just the fourth minute, when
Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) capitalized on a
Jake Barrett (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) cross at the top of the 18-yard box and scored his second goal of the season.
• Barrett was on the receiving end in the 16th minute, when he headed in a
Dalton Marin (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) cross for his first career goal to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead.
• The Badgers (1-3-1, 1-0-0) found the net in the 23rd minute, when Tapfuma Dimairo scored off a Tilman Schober corner kick.
• Spring Hill equalized in the 28th minute, when Ibrahima Ndaw scored from the top of the 18-yard box off a feed from Joakim Aakerlund.
• The Badgers scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute, when Ndaw scored off the rebound after Schober's first shot was blocked.
KEY STATS:
• The Bucs out-shot Spring Hill 14-11 for the game, with each team taking six shots on goal.
