Magdefrau's Late Game-Winner Lifts Lady Bucs

Lauren Magdefrau's 89th-minute game-winner lifted the Lady Bucs to a 1-0 win at Spring Hill Friday.
Box Score MOBILE, Ala.-After more than 88 scoreless minutes, Christian Brothers University junior forward Lauren Magdefrau (Raleigh, N.C., Cardinal Gibbons HS) scored the only goal in the Lady Bucs' 1-0 win at Spring Hill Friday afternoon in the first Gulf South Conference game for both schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was delayed approximately an hour before kickoff due to lightning, then another 20 minutes during halftime.
• CBU (1-4-0, 1-0-0 GSC) controlled much of the action, but they were unable to find the net until Magdefrau chipped in a shot from point-blank range at the left post after collecting a cross from Sydney Piper (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) from the right side.

KEY STATS:
• Magdefrau's game-winner came on CBU's 19th and final shot, against eight for the Badgers (0-4-1, 0-1-0). CBU held a 12-3 edge in shots in the second half, and they held an 8-4 cushion in shots on goal.
Emily Wragg (Nottingham, England/The Becket School) made four saves to earn the shutout.
• CBU also took 12 corner kicks to the Badgers' four.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs continue their season-long six-game road trip Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit West Florida. Their next home game is Sunday, Sept. 25, as they host Mississippi College at 1 p.m.
