LIVINGSTON, Ala.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored three straight baskets to regain the lead in overtime Thursday night at West Alabama, and they overcame making just 1-of-7 free throws in the overtime as they held on for a 76-74 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Tigers (8-8, 3-7 GSC) took control early as a 6-0 run gave them an 8-3 edge on a Dominique Alexander layup with 16:23 remaining in the first half.
• CBU (10-7, 7-4) used a 10-0 run to regain the lead at 20-15 on a
Brad Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder HS) triple with 11:10 remaining in the half.
• UWA used a 10-2 run sandwiching the halftime break to take a 35-33 lead on a Domonique Alexander dunk with 18:53 remaining, and a 10-3 burst gave them a 47-40 lead on a Gavin Robinson bucket with 14:41 to play.
• After a Johnny Stallworth triple gave the Tigers their largest lead of the night at 59-50, the Bucs used three triples in a row to tie the game at 59 on an
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) three with 5:36 remaining.
• CBU regained a 65-63 edge with 1:36 remaining in regulation when Jeff Lerkin scored a fastbreak layup off a steal. A Dieball free throw with 54 seconds to play extended the lead to 66-63, but another Stallworth three tied the game with 43 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
• Marcel Moorer scored the Tigers' first three points of overtime on a layup and a free throw to give UWA a 69-67 lead.
• Dieball fed Larkin for a top-of-the-key triple to put the Bucs back ahead 70-69 with 2:34 remaining, but two Sean Cranney free throws put UWA back on top 71-70 with 2:10 remaining.
• Dieball scored a hook shot in the lane to put the Bucs back ahead for good with 1:49 to play.
Brad Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder HS) followed with a layup in traffic after a backdoor cut, and Dieball found Larkin for a layup to give CBU a 76-71 lead with 40 seconds remaining.
• Cranney knocked down a triple with 28 seconds remaining to bring UWA within two points. After a pair of CBU missed free throws, the Tigers missed two three-pointers in the final seconds. Larkin grabbed the rebound off the second one to finish the victory.
KEY STATS:
• Dieball scored 28 points with five rebounds and three blocks, and he tied his career-high with nine assists. The sophomore finished 10-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-12 from three-point range.
• Larkin scored 23 points, shooting 10-of-17 overall including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
• Miller and
Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) scored eight points each.
• The Bucs shot 52.6 percent (30-of-57) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from three-point range. CBU was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor in overtime, but they shot just 4-of-14 from the free throw line for the game, including 1-of-7 in overtime, missing their last six.
• UWA shot 40 percent (26-of-65) for the game, including 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from three-point range.
• The Tigers out-rebounded CBU 38-36 for the game, including a 12-7 edge in offensive boards. The Bucs committed 12 turnovers to the Tigers' seven.

CBU returns to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit West Georgia. Their next home game is set for Thursday night, Feb. 2, when they host West Georgia at 7 p.m.
