Bucs Blank Statesmen 3-0

CLEVELAND, Miss.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored three second-half goals as they maintained sole possession of second place in the Gulf South Conference standings with a 3-0 win at Delta State Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After a scoreless first half, Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) put the Bucs (5-4-0, 4-1-0 GSC) on the board with an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute for his third of the season.
Andrew Forrest (Lanark, Scotland/Lanark Grammar School) scored the first goal of his career in the 59th minute when he headed in a Brendan Bennett (Belfast, Northern Ireland/St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School) corner kick.
• Bennett combined with Lao for the Bucs' final goal in the 84th minute. Bennett sent a cross to Lao, who scored one-on-one against the Delta State (2-7-1, 0-6-0) goalkeeper to give CBU a 3-0 win.

KEY STATS:
• CBU out-shot the Statesmen 17-9, including a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Viktor Hoestbo (Stenloese, Denmark/Oesterhoejskolen) made four saves for the Bucs as he earned his third shutout of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return home Friday night at 7 p.m. as they host Auburn-Montgomery.
