MEMPHIS-A first half goal proved to be decisive as West Florida defeated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 1-0 Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game's lone goal came in the 25th minute as UWF's Barrett Mills won the ball from a defender and scored around a diving goalie.

KEY STATS:
• The Bucs (7-6-1, 6-2-1 GSC) out-shot West Florida (5-6-1, 3-4-1 GSC) 22-15, but only put four on target while the Argos had eight.
Viktor Hoestbo (Stenloese, Denmark/Oesterhoejskolen) made seven saves for the Bucs.

GSC STANDINGS:
Despite the loss on Friday,  CBU secured a berth in the GSC tournament.  UWA stands in sole possession of first place with 24 points, with Alabama Huntsville and Mississippi College tied for second with 20 points each.  With 19 points, the Bucs drop to fourth in the standings.  Lee (14) and Montevallo (13) currently round out the conference's top six teams, with West Florida (10) in seventh.  The top six advance to the GSC Tournament. The quarterfinals will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, hosted by the No. 3 and 4 seeds, with the semifinals set for Friday, Nov. 3 in Montgomery, Ala., and the championship Sunday, Nov. 5, in Montgomery.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs' GSC finale will be Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they host Spring Hill. A win or tie would clinch home field advantage in the GSC quarterfinals for the Bucs.
