MEMPHIS-The No. 10/8 Christian Brothers University Bucs survived their coldest shooting night of the season as they won 64-54 at Lane Wednesday night to remain unbeaten.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (8-0) used an early 11-0 run capped by a
Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) layup to take an 11-3 lead with 14:52 remaining in the first half.
• Lane (3-4) answered with an 11-2 run to take a 14-13 edge on a Tevyn Roberts jumper with 11:42 to play in the half.
• CBU responded with an 18-3 burst capped by an
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) layup that gave them a 31-17 lead, their largest of the night, with 5:25 remaining in the half.
• The Dragons fought back into the game with a 15-3 run, closing within 34-32 on a James Caldwell triple with 1:15 remaining in the half.
• Another 11-2 Lane run gave the Dragons their final lead of the night when Ai'Shontis Sanders knocked down a triple with 11:58 remaining in the game.
• The Bucs seized control for good with a 13-2 run sparked by a
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) triple and capped by a pair of Laravie free throws with 2:30 remaining.
• A Jade Patrick triple brought the Dragons within 59-54 with 24 seconds remaining, but the Bucs sank five free throws in the final 21 seconds, one by Larkin and four by Laravie, after two fouls and a technical foul.
KEY STATS:
• Laravie led the Bucs with 18 points, adding five rebounds and five assists with no turnovers in 38 minutes. He was a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line while shooting 3-of-8 from the field, including 1-of-5 from three-point range.
• Dieball scored 15 with team-highs of seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks in 38 minutes.
• Larkin scored 10 with six rebounds in 37 minutes.

Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills HS) scored 11 off the bench, shooting 4-of-6 overall including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
• The Bucs shot season-lows of 40.8 percent (20-of-49) from the field and 27.6 percent (8-of-29) from three-point range. Lane finished 31.3 percent (21-of-67) overall, including 32.1 percent (9-of-28) from beyond the arc.
• The Dragons out-rebounded CBU 39-35, including a 13-4 edge in offensive rebounds, and they forced 10 CBU turnovers while committing nine.
