MEMPHIS-Visiting Valdosta State scored in six of the game's nine innings as they claimed a 13-7 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Blazers (9-3, 2-1 GSC) struck first with a run in the top of the first on two singles, a walk and a sacrifice fly.
• VSU added three more runs in the second inning on a hit batter, an error, a single, a double, a walk and a wild pitch.
• CBU (5-7, 1-2) knotted the game in the bottom of the second with four runs.
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a
Taylor King (Water Valley, Miss./Water Valley HS) double down the left-field line.
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) followed with an RBI single to bring Dod home.
Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS) brought King in with a one-out single to left. A throwing error moved Pala and Cramer to second and third, and a two-out wild pitch brought Cramer home and moved Pala to third.
Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) capped the rally with a single to left to score Pala for the tying run.
• The Blazers regained the lead in the top of the third with three runs on a hit batter, a walk, a single and a triple.
• The Bucs scored a run in the bottom of the third.
Joe Mattson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) singled to right and reached second on an error. After moving to third when King grounded into a force play, he scored on a Cramer sacrifice fly to bring the Bucs within 7-5.
• CBU came within a run an inning later.
Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) singled but was out when Halley grounded into a force play. Halley stole second, moving to third on a
Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) infield single. Mattson followed with a single up the middle to bring Halley home and trim the deficit to 7-6.
• VSU plated three more in the top of the fifth on three singles and a double.
• The Blazers tacked on another run in the top of the eighth on a hit batter, an error, a single and a sacrifice fly.
• VSU set the final margin with a run in the top of the ninth on a double, two singles, a walk  and a hit batter.
KEY STATS:
• Cramer went 2-for-3 with a walk, a sacrifice fly, two runs and two RBI.
• Mattson was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run and one RBI.
• Halley went 1-for-5 with a run, one RBI and two stolen bases.
• Pala was 1-for-2 with two walks, a run and one RBI.
• Goodwin went 1-for-3 with two walks.
• King was 1-for-5 with a double, a run and a stolen base.

Ryan Abone (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) threw two and a third innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits and a walk against one strikeout.

The Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit Union for a GSC doubleheader. Their next home game is Tuesday, Feb. 28, when they host Maryville (Mo.) at 1 p.m.
