MEMPHIS-Visiting Maryville scored nine runs on 16 hits as they claimed a 9-6 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Saints (8-5) scored a run in the first on a double and a single.
• Maryville added two more in the second inning on two singles, a walk and a double.
• CBU (5-12) scored a run in the bottom of the frame.
Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS) singled with two out and moved to second when
Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) worked a walk.
Kyle Hindman (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) singled up the middle to bring him home.
• MU added another run in the third on three errors.
• The Bucs drew even with a three-run fifth inning.
Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) started the inning with his first career homer to left-center.
Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was hit by a pitch, and
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) followed with a walk.
Taylor King (Water Valley, Miss./Water Valley HS) hit an RBI double to left-center to bring the Bucs within a run, and a wild pitch brought Cramer home to tie the game.
• The Saints regained the lead in the top of the sixth with four runs on an error, two doubles, a triple and a single.
• Kilgore hit his second homer in a row to lead off the bottom of the sixth, a towering shot to right-center to cut the deficit to 8-5.
• CBU shaved another run off the lead in the bottom of the seventh. King led off with a double, and
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) walked, but King was caught stealing. A Pala hit by pitch and a
Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) single loaded the bases, and a wild pitch brought Dodd home.
• Maryville set the final margin wit a run in the eighth on three straight singles.
KEY STATS:
• King went 4-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI.
• Kilgore was 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and two homers.
• Goodwin went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a hit by pitch.
• Pala was 1-for-2 with a run, a walk, a stolen base and two hit by pitches.
• Halley went 1-for-3.
• Hindman was 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Peyton Sanderlin (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) threw a scoreless inning of relief.
