LIVINGSTON, Ala.-After losing game one to host West Alabama 6-0, the Christian Brothers University Bucs rallied to cut a seven-run deficit to two, but the hosts won the second game 12-10 to complete the sweep.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
Three West Alabama (14-7, 7-4 GSC) hurlers combined for a five-hit shutout as the Tigers won the first game 6-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Tigers plated the only run they would need in the bottom of the first on a one-out single and a two-out double.
• UWA added two runs to its lead in the third inning on four singles.
• The Tigers scored another run in the seventh on a pair of doubles.
• UWA set the final margin with two runs on a double, a walk, an error and a single in the eighth.
KEY STATS:

Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) went 2-for-4.

Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Peyton Sanderlin (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) took the loss, allowing three runs as he scattered nine hits and a walk over six innings, striking out six.
GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
UWA scored in five straight innings to build a 12-5 lead going into the seventh inning. The Bucs (7-15, 3-8) scored five runs in the top of the seventh to put the tying run in scoring position, but the Tigers held on for a 12-10 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• CBU opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second. Goodwin and
Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS) were hit by pitches. Goodwin stole third and scored on a wild throw.
• The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the inning with four runs on a leadoff Dylan Little homer, a triple and three singles.
• The Bucs closed within a run with a two-out rally in the top of the third.
Taylor King (Water Valley, Miss./Water Valley HS) singled, and
Joe Mattson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) followed with a two-run homer to left, his first career homer.
• UWA scored three runs in the third on a double, two walks and two singles.
• The Tigers added a run in the fourth on a leadoff solo shot by Taylor Stafford.
• CBU used another two-out rally to trim two runs off the lead. Smith singled, and King followed with a two-run homer to right-center.
• UWA added another run to its lead in the fifth with a run on a two-base error and a single.
• The Tigers added three insurance runs that proved crucial in the bottom of the sixth, cashing in on a walk, a double and two singles.
• The Bucs' seventh-inning rally started with back-to-back walks to pinch-hitters
Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and
Blain Curtis (Atoka, Tenn./Tipton Rosemark Academy).
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) followed with a pinch-hit RBI double down the right-field line, and Curtis scored on a Mattson sacrifice fly. After a Kilgore infield single, Casey Goodwin scored Dodd with a sacrifice fly to left. Pala followed with a single, and
Michael Halley (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) loaded the bases with a two-out walk.
Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) hit a two-run single to bring the Bucs within 12-10, and Jeff Goodwin loaded the bases back up with a single, but a strikeout ended the threat.
