PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida defeated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 9-1 Monday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Argos (20-10, 12-6 GSC) struck first with two runs in the first inning on two singles, a walk and a two-out error.
• UWF tacked on three more in the fourth on two singles, a triple and an RBI groundout.
• CBU (9-22, 4-14) scored a run in the top of the fifth.
Joe Mattson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) singled and moved to second on a
Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS) bunt, scoring on a throwing error when
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) grounded into a force play.
• The Argos added two more runs in the fifth on a walk, two singles and a wild pitch.
• UWF set the final margin with two runs in the sixth on an error, a walk, a single and a double.
KEY STATS:
• Mattson went 1-for-3 with a run.
• Pala was 1-for-3.
