MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs jumped to a 3-0 lead but couldn't hold on as they lost 6-3 to Rhodes Wednesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (9-23) struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Taylor King (Water Valley, Miss./Water Valley HS) singled and stole second, scoring when Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) blasted his fifth homer of the season, a two-run shot to right-center.
• CBU added a run to its lead in the fourth inning. Hunter Howard (Chelsea, Ala./Chelsea HS) and Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) drew back-to-back one-out walks, and a Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) infield single loaded the bases for Scott Pala (Hernando, Miss./Hernando HS), who scored Howard with a sacrifice fly.
• Rhodes (14-12) broke through in the fifth with a run on a single and a double.
• The Lynx tied it in the seventh with a pair of runs on a walk two singles, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
• Rhodes took the lead in the eighth with a run on a double-steal after a single, a walk and a wild pitch.
• The Lynx added two runs to their lead in the ninth on a triple, a single, two walks and a wild pitch.

KEY STATS:
• Dodd was 2-for-3 with a double.
• Goodwin went 1-for-4 with a homer, a run and two RBI.
