Bucs Roll Past Delta State 4-1

MEMPHIS- The Christian Brothers University Bucs jumped out to an early lead against Delta State with four first half goals and held that advantage with a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bucs (4-4-2, 3-1-2 GSC) opened the scoring early with a goal in 3rd minute which came from Michael Longo (Mandeville, La./St. Paul's HS).
  • The Statesmen (1-8-1, 1-5-1) answered back with the equalizer coming in the 24th minute with a goal by Louis Ferguson which was assisted by John Nicklas.
  • CBU didn't take much time to retake the lead with an assist from Maximillian Galizzi (Puerto Madryn, Argentina/Escuela de la Costa) which led to a goal by Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) in the 25th minute.
  • The Bucs tacked on another goal in the 29th minute from a goal by James Raptis (London, England/Finley Catholic), which was assisted by Felipe Rodrigues (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Podio) and Galizzi.
  • Rodrigues finished the scoring for the game with a goal in the 30th minute which was assisted Galizzi.

KEY STATS: 
  • The Bucs out-shot the Statesmen 10-5 for the game, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Galizzi tied the school record of assists in a single game with 3, which all came in the first half. He tied the mark set by Jarrian Cutrer (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) against Rhodes Oct. 7, 2013.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs are on the road for their next two matchups against Lee on Friday, October 12th and Shorter Sunday, October 14th. The Bucs will be back at Signaigo Field Wednesday, October 17th against Rhodes.
