LIBERTY, Missouri-Host William Jewell blew open a tie game with a five-run seventh inning en route to an 8-5 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (2-7) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first.
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) reached on a one-out single and stole second, scoring on a
Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) single.
• WJC (2-1) took its first lead of the day in the bottom of the fifth with three runs on two doubles and a two-run Chase Averitt homer.
• CBU tied the game back up with two runs in the top of the sixth.
Luke Wewers (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) led off with a double and scored on a #T.J. Klutts
triple down the right field line. (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS)Taylor Angley-Holman# singled Klutts home.
• The Cardinals' big inning came in the bottom of the seventh, when they scored ive on two walks, a hit batter, an error, two wild pitches and two doubles.
• The Bucs capitalized on two errors as they shaved two runs off the deficit in the ninth.
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) reached on a two-base error to start the inning, and Jordan was hit by a pitch.
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) reached on another error to load the bases for
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS), who plated two runs with a double to left-center, bringing the tying run to the plate with no outs, but two groundouts and a flyout ended the game.
KEY STATS:
• Wewers went 2-for-2 with two walks, a double and a run.
• Voss was 2-for-4 with a sacrifice, a double and two RBI.
• Klutts went 2-for-5 with a triple, a run and one RBI.
• Soto was 2-for-5 with a run.

Blake Dallas (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) threw a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts against a walk.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs open GSC play next weekend as they visit Montevallo for a three-game series. Both Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game are set to start at 1 p.m. The Bucs' next home game is Saturday, March 3, when they host West Georgia for a noon doubleheader.
