MONTEVALLO, Alabama-Host Montevallo jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and held on for a 5-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday afternoon to claim a series win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Falcons (10-4, 2-1 GSC) opened the scoring with three runs in the second on two doubles and two singles.
• Montevallo added two more to their lead in the third inning on solo homers by Sebastian Samuels and Ryan Brooks.
• CBU (3-9, 1-2) took advantage of a pair of errors to score twice in the seventh.
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) led off with a single to right, and he moved to third when
Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) reached on a two-base error.
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) reached on another error, bringing Soto home. After
Luke Wewers (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) worked a walk,
Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) hit a two-out single to center to score Jordan, but Voss was tagged out at the plate trying to score.
KEY STATS:
• Soto went 2-for-4 with a run.
• Goodwin was 1-for-2 with a walk and one RBI.

Larry Hubbard (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent HS) went 1-for-4.

Garrett Stebbins-Johnson (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence School of Jacksonville) threw two scoreless innings of relief, with two strikeouts against two hits.

Will Rutledge (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan HS) tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief, pitching around one hit.

Blake Dallas (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts against a hit and a walk.
•
Jonathan Baldelli (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) threw a perfect inning with one strikeout.
