Bucs Rally Past Reddies 10-7

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored in each of their final three times at bat to rally for a 10-7 win over Henderson State Tuesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (6-15) opened the scoring with two in the bottom of the second. Larry Hubbard (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent HS) and Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) started it off with a pair of singles. After a Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) sacrifice moved them to second and third, Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) hit a two-run double down the line.
• HSU (13-9) scored three in the third on two singles, a hit batter and a two-run Taylor Langston homer.
• CBU tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning. Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) singled and stole second, scoring on a two-out Nick Traylor (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) single to center.
• The Bucs regained the lead in the fourth. Voss led off with a single and, after moving to second on a passed ball, scored on a Trevor Goetsch (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) single down the left field line.
• The Reddies took the lead back with three in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of two walks, a double and an error.
• HSU added a run to its lead in the sixth on a walk, a sacrifice bunt, a single and a sacrifice fly.
• CBU drew within a run as they scored twice in the bottom of the inning. A Dodd single, a Voss walk and a Jordan single loaded the bases with none out. A two-out single from Goodwin scored two runs to bring the Bucs within a 7-6 margin.
• The Bucs plated three in the bottom of the seventh to take a 9-7 lead. Traylor drew a leadoff walk, and Dodd followed with a double to move him to third. Voss grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Traylor, but Dodd was tagged out. Jordan followed with his second homer of the season, a two-run shot that put the Bucs back ahead.
• A two-out rally helped CBU add an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to set the final margin. Back-to-back two-out walks to Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) and Traylor started the rally, and Dodd followed with a single to right to score Angley-Holman and extend the lead to 10-7.
