MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs posted season-highs of 19 hits and 25 runs, the second-highest score in school history, as they rolled to a 25-9 win over LeMoyne-Owen Tuesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Playing as the visiting team since the game was originally scheduled to be at LeMoyne-Owen, CBU (7-18) scored three in the top of the first. After a
Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) leadoff double,
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) and
Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) were hit by pitches to load the bases.
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) was hit by another pitch to score Goodwin. A passed ball brought Soto home, and
Luke Wewers (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) drove Angley-Holman in with a sacrifice fly.
• The Magicians (0-8) scored a run in the bottom of the inning on a double, a sacrifice bunt and a passed ball.
• The Bucs scored four more in the second inning.
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) led off with a single and stole second, scoring on a
Nick Traylor (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) single. Goodwin reached on an error and Soto was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A two-run single by
Larry Hubbard (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent HS) extended the Bucs' lead to 6-1, and a double-steal brought Soto home.
• CBU added six more in the third. Traylor and Goodwin started the inning with infield singles, and after a passed ball, Soto scored Traylor when he reached on an error. Angley-Holman followed with a three-run homer to left-center to give the Bucs an 11-1 edge. Singles by Hubbard and
Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) and a Voss walk loaded the bases with two out. A Traylor walk and an infield single by Goodwin extended the Bucs' lead to 13-1.
• LOC scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a hit batter and back-to-back homers by Chris Conrad and Kaleeq Brannigan.
• The Bucs scored two more in the top of the fifth. Jordan opened the inning with a leadoff homer to center. After a one-out walk to Traylor, Goodwin reached on an error that moved Traylor to third, and a Soto sacrifice fly scored Traylor.
• CBU added six more in the top of the sixth. A Hubbard walk started the inning, and a
Luke Wewers (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) hit batter and a
Jake Tribble (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) single loaded the bases with one out. A wild pitch scored Hubbard, and a Voss sacrifice fly brought Wewers home. Traylor drove in Tribble with a double, and Goodwin followed with an RBI single, scoring on a Soto triple. A Hubbard infield single extended the lead to 21-4.
• The Magicians added a run in the bottom of the inning on two walks, a hit batter and a single.
• The Bucs tacked on four more in the seventh. Wewers reached on an error, moving to second on a wild pitch. A Traylor triple to right-center scored Wewers, and Goodwin followed with an RBI single. A Soto walk and an Angley-Holman hit by pitch loaded the bases for pinch-hitter
Hunter Howard (Chelsea, Ala./Chelsea HS), who worked a bases-loaded walk.
Trevor Goetsch (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 25-5.
• LOC set the final margin with four in the bottom of the seventh on a single, three walks, a hit batter, two wild pitches and a sacrifice fly.
KEY STATS:
• Goodwin went 5-for-7 with a double, a stolen base, five runs and three RBI.
• Traylor was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two walks, five runs and four RBI.
• Hubbard went 3-for-4 with two walks, two stolen bases, two runs and three RBI.
• Angley-Holman was 2-for-4 with two hit by pitches, a walk, a double, a homer, two runs and three RBI.
• Jordan went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and one RBI.
• Soto was 1-for-3 with two hit by pitches, a walk, a stolen base, a triple and five runs.

Garrett Dooley (Atoka, Tenn./Millington HS) earned the win, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits and three walks scattered over six innings.
NOTABLE:
• The Bucs' 25 runs were the most since they scored 27 in a win over LeMoyne-Owen April 24, 1981.
• Goodwin, Traylor and Soto tied for the second-most runs scored in a game in school history. Hall of Famer Larry Barton scored six against Lambuth April 18, 1985.
• Goodwin's five hits tied for the third-most in a game in school history. Randy Handsbrough had six against LeMoyne-Owen April 24, 1981, and John Lenderhouse tied that mark against Rhodes April 21, 1998.
• CBU's 19 hits were their highest total since they had 20 hits against LeMoyne-Owen Feb. 23, 2010.
• The Bucs' 22 RBI are the second-most in school history, trailing the record of 26 against LeMoyne-Owen April 24, 1981.
• CBU was hit by a pitch six times, second-most in a game in school history behind the seven they drew March 3, 2007, against Robert Morris-Springfield.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. as they visit Harding. Their next home game is Saturday as they host West Alabama for a noon doubleheader.
