MEMPHIS-Visiting West Georgia swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Bucs Sunday, winning the opener 19-0 before taking a 2-1 win in the second game.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
West Georgia (14-3, 4-2 GSC) scored three or more runs in four innings as they won 19-0 in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Wolves blew it open with six in the top of the second on a walk, four singles, two doubles and two errors.
• UWG added three more in the third on an error, a two singles, two hit batters and a walk.
• The Wolves scored four in the fourth on a hit batter, a double, three walks and three singles.
• UWG tacked on six more in the seventh on three doubles, two singles, a walk and a Chase Uter homer.
KEY STATS:

Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) went 1-for-2 with a double.

Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) was 1-for-3.

Will Rutledge (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan HS) threw a perfect sixth inning out of the bullpen, retiring all three batters he faced.
GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Bucs (4-12, 1-5) took a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning and missed chances with the bases loaded in the sixth and seventh innings before losing 2-1/
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. Goodwin led off with a single. After stealing second, he came home on a
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) single.
• UWG tied it in the top of the fourth with a run on a hit batter, a walk and a double, all with two out.
• CBU loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the sixth, but a strikeout and a double play ended the inning.
• The Wolves took the lead in the top of the seventh. They put tow on with a walk and a bunt single, and a pair of wild pitches brought the go-ahead run around to score.
• The Bucs loaded the bases again in the seventh, this time with one out, but again they grounded into a double play to end the game.
KEY STATS:
• Soto went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and one RBI.

Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) was 2-for-3.
• Goodwin went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run.

Gil Erwin (Covington, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) took the loss, allowing two runs as he scattered four hits and six walks over six-plus innnings with five strikeouts.

Jonathan Baldelli (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) retired all three batters he faced in relief, including one strikeout.
