MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs scored a run in each of the first three innings to build a 3-1 lead, and they held on for a 3-2 win over LeMoyne-Owen Wednesday at Nadicksbernd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• LeMoyne-Owen (0-4) struck first with a run in the top of the first on a single and a double.
• The Bucs (5-12) answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) reached on a one-out single. After advancing to third on a wild pickoff throw, he scored on an infield single by
Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS).
• CBU took the lead in the second with another run.
Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) doubled to left-center and scored on a
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) single to left.
• The Bucs plated another run in the third. Soto led off with a single. After stealing second, he scored on a two-out
Larry Hubbard (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent HS) single up the middle.
• The Magicians halved the deficit in the top of the fifth with a run on a walk, a stolen base and a pair of groundouts.
KEY STATS:
• Soto went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs.
• Hubbard was 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and one RBI.
• Angley-Holman went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was 1-for-3 with a walk.
• Voss went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Will Rutledge (Nashville, Tenn./Father Ryan HS) allowed one run in three innings, with two strikeouts and no walks against four hits

Blake Dallas (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) earned the win, allowing one run in two innings as he gave up two walks and a hit.

Ryan Taylor (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) threw a scoreless sixth inning.

Nick Myers (Collierville, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief, allowing one hit.

Jonathan Baldelli (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) picked up his first save with a scoreless ninth, pitching around a hit and a walk.
WHAT'S NEXT:
Due to rain in the forecast, this weekend's series at Nadicksbernd Field between the Bucs and West Florida has been pushed back a day. The teams will now meet for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday, with a single game set for Monday at noon.
