ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas-Host Henderson State scored runs in six of the game's eight innings as they claimed a 15-7 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Reddies (24-13) opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first on a double and two singles.
• HSU doubled its advantage in the second on a one-out single and a two-out double.
• The Reddies added two more in the third on two singles, two walks and a hit batter.
• HSU extended the lead to 8-0 when they plated four runs in the fifth on a triple, a sacrifice fly, two singles and a three run homer by Zack Gray.
• The Reddies tacked on a pair in the sixth on two errors, a single and a sacrifice fly.
• CBU (10-28) broke through for four runs in the top of the seventh.
Hunter Howard (Chelsea, Ala./Chelsea HS) and
Larry Hubbard (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent HS) opened the inning with back-to-back walks, scoring on a
TJ Klutts (Atoka, Tenn./Brighton HS) single down the right field line. After a
Nick Traylor (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) walk, a wild pitch moved Traylor and Klutts to second and third, and both scored when
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) reached on an error.
• The Bucs halved the deficit in the eighth. Again, it was started by back-to-back walks to Howard and Hubbard, this time with two out. Again Klutts drove them in, this time on a two-run triple, and he scored on an error to cut the deficit to 10-7.
• HSU put it out of reach with a five-run eighth, taking advantage of three singles, a hit batter and a triple.
KEY STATS:
• Klutts went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and four RBI.
• Howard was 0-for-1 but drew three walks and scored two runs.
• Hubbard went 0-for-2 but drew two walks and scored twice.

Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Jonathan Baldelli (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS) threw a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout against one walk.
