MEMPHIS-Visiting Freed-Hardeman converted 10 hits into eight runs as they claimed an 8-5 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Wednesday afternoon at Nadicksbernd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lions (31-13) opened the scoring in the top of the fourth with three runs on two doubles and two singles.
• CBU (10-32) shaved a run off the deficit in the bottom of the inning.
Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) worked a one-out walk, and
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) was hit by a pitch. After
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) reached on an error to load the bases,
Parker Jordan (Southaven, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored Angley-Holman with a sacrifice fly to left.
• FHU added a run in the fifth on a one-out homer to center by Josh Sears.
• The Lions tacked on another tally in the seventh, scoring on two singles and an error.
• The Bucs cut the deficit in half with two in the bottom of the seventh. Dodd was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and Jordan followed with a walk. Two-out singles by
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and
Trevor Goetsch (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) brought them home to cut the deficit to 5-3.
• FHU extended their lead to 8-3 in the top of the eighth with three runs on a walk, a triple, a fielder's choice, a single and a wild pitch.
• CBU scored two in the bottom of the ninth. Voss and Goetsch reached on back-to-back one-out singles. After a passed ball moved them to second and third,
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) hit an RBI single to score Voss, and Angley-Holman plated Goetsch with a single to right.

• Voss went 3-for-4 with a stolen base, a run and one RBI.
• Goetsch was 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.

Nick Myers (Collierville, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) threw an inning and a third of scoreless relief, allowing two walks against two strikeouts.

The Bucs hit the road this weekend as they visit Auburn-Montgomery for their final GSC road series. Due to rain in the forecast, the teams will play a single game Friday night at 6 p.m., with a doubleheader set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
