Warhawks Down Bucs 11-2

MONTGOMERY, Alabama-Host Auburn-Montgomery scored twice in each of the first two innings to take the lead, and they used a six-run eighth to put the game out of reach in an 11-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (10-33, 4-21 GSC) struck first with a two-out rally in the top of the first. Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS) reached on a two-out single, and he scored when Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) doubled into the gap in right-center.
• AUM (18-26, 7-18) scored twice in the bottom of the inning on a walk, two singles, a hit batter and a groundout.
• The Warhawks scored two more in the second on two walks, two singles and a sacrifice fly.
• CBU cut a run off the deficit in the top of the third. Singles by Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) started the inning, and Angley-Holman reached safely on a sacrifice bunt as the Warhawks tried to force Goodwin out and failed. Goodwin scored on a sacrifice fly by Cramer.
• AUM scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on a walk and two singles.
• The Warhawks set the final margin when they scored six in the eighth on two walks, three singles, a double and a triple.

KEY STATS:
• Cramer went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
• Soto was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
• Goodwin went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run.
• Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was 1-for-3 with a walk.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs and Warhawks meet again for a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader. CBU's next home game is Saturday, April 28, when they host Union for a noon doubleheader.
