MARTIN, Tennessee-Host Tennessee-Martin scored nine runs in the first two innings and never trailed in a 10-4 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Tuesday night in CBU's final non-conference game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Skyhawks (8-30) opened the scoring with a five-run first, taking advantage of a walk, two singles, two doubles and an error.
• UTM added four more in the second on two singles, a walk and a three-run homer by Collin Edwards.
• The Skyhawks scored another run in the fourth on a one-out double and a two-out single.
• CBU (10-36) broke through with a run in the sixth.
Keagan Voss (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) drew a leadoff walk. After moving to second on a
Jeff Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) foulout and third on a
Jaime Soto (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) groundout, he scored on a single by
Taylor Angley-Holman (Redding, Calif./Enterprise HS).
• The Bucs scored a run in the seventh.
Brandon Dodd (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) worked a leadoff walk, moving to second on a
Luke Wewers (Little Rock, Ark./Catholic HS) single and scoring on a
TJ Klutts (Atoka, Tenn./Brighton HS) single.
• CBU set the final margin with two runs in the eighth. Angley-Holman started the raly with a one-out walk, and
Jared Cramer (Olive Branch, Miss./DeSoto Central HS) followed with a walk. After
Hunter Howard (Chelsea, Ala./Chelsea HS) reached on an error to load the bases,
Jake Tribble (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) hit a two-run single through the right side to bring Angley-Holman and Cramer home.
