Bucs Victorious In 3OT Thriller

LIVINGSTON, Alabama- A three overtime matchup was not enough to tire the Christian Brothers University Bucs as they battled to a 93-88 victory Thursday night against the West Alabama Tigers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) got the Bucs started off on the right foot as he scored 14, first half points, to carry the Bucs to their 34-21 lead at halftime.
  • The Bucs held the lead from a Mitchell Mays (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) three pointer, early in the first half, until 23 seconds remaining in regulation. West Alabama's DeAndre Harper knocked down three free throws, at the end of regulation, to tie the game and take it to overtime.
  • The Tigers controlled the lead throughout the first overtime period, until Laravie tied it up with a three pointer with .02 seconds remaining to take it to a second overtime period.
  • The second overtime period was controlled by CBU, until West Alabama's Harper tied it up once again to take it to overtime number three.
  • Laravie's seven points and a Bucs' 12-2 run, in the third overtime period, was enough to propel the Bucs to their fourth GSC victory.

KEY STATS:
  • Mr. Triple-Double, Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS), carried a big load for the Bucs. Dieball tallied his second triple-double on the season as he collected 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists.
  • Laravie completed a double-double in the game, as he tallied 34 points and 12 rebounds. Laravie's 34 points is his season high.
  • Jacob Lyons (Hernando, Miss./Christian Brothers HS) almost completed a double-double as he finished the game with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
