MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University Bucs and the Freed-Hardeman played a tightly contested matchup, Saturday afternoon in Canale Arena. CBU's 18-5 scoring run halfway through the first half seemed to be the difference maker in their 68-61 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A turnaround jumper by Joshua Jackson with 17:28 left in the first half rounded out a CBU 8-3 scoring run to start the contest.
- A layup from Jackson coming with 7:28 left in the first half ended an 18-5 scoring run for the Bucs (29-24). This impressive run was highlighted by eight points from Jaret Gassett.
- Strong inside scoring from the Bucs led to them outscoring FHU in the paint 18-2. This helped lead CBU to a 41-32 advantage at halftime.
- Nick Deifel took advantage of a fast break opportunity with a layup with 18:33 left in the game to push the Bucs' lead to a game-high 14 points (46-32).
- A layup by FHU with 57 seconds remaining in the contest narrowed the gap to only three points (60-57), but a Brad Miller three point dagger, seconds later, played to the advantage of the Bucs as they went on to win 68-61.
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Deifel recorded his second consecutive double-double as he tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds. He also added two assists and a steal to the stat sheet.
- Four Bucs finished the game with double digit points. Deifel led the attack with 16, Miller and Jackson finished with 12, and Gassett was able to add 10.
- Jackson was a lone rebound away from his own double-double. He was able to score 12 points and grab nine boards.
- CBU was able to out rebound the Lions 36-27 (10-8 ORB, 26-19 DRB).

The Bucs have a week to prepare for their next contest as they travel to Jackson, Tenn. on Sat., Dec. 7th to take on the Dragons from Lane College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
