CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Lee outscored the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team 9-2, in the final 4:22, and held on for a 63-59 victory, on Saturday at Walker Arena. The closely contested game did not see a team lead by more than eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game began with both teams playing strong defensively as neither team was able to score in the first three minutes of the contest.
- A Jarret Gassett made jumper with eight minutes remaining in the first period extended CBU's lead to eight points, which was quickly diminished as the Flames were able to bring the game back even going into the half (31-31).
- Joshua Jackson sunk a jumpshot with 3:36 remaining in the contest to bring the Bucs advantage to 59-57.
- Following Jackson's bucket, neither team scored a field goal until Josh Lowe made a layup with 1:17 left.
- Ryan Montgomery grabbed an offensive rebound and scored what proved to be the game-winner with 21 seconds left.
- The Flames knocked then down a pair of free throws to seal the win.
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Brad Miller set a new career high in points in a game with 24. His recent career high was 23 points.
- Miller sunk eight three pointers which is tied for the third most in school history. His eight threes made are the single most by a Gulf South Conference men's athlete this season.
- Daryl Lewis was the only other CBU player to score in double digits. Lewis recorded 14 points.
- Lewis has tallied multiple steals in his last three contests. He recorded three steals in the contest.
- Lee out rebounded CBU 33-27.
