Second Half Run Helps Alabama Huntsville Defeat Bucs

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama Huntsville used a 23-0 over a 8:40 span, in the second half, to help defeat the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team, 83-56, on Saturday at Spragins Hall. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bucs (18-9, 13-6 GSC) started the game with Adam Dieball scoring 11 of the first 13 points, helping CBU tie the game at 13 with 15:21 left in the first half.
  • The Bucs put together an 11-3 run out of the timeout to take their largest lead of the game, 24-16, with just over 10 minutes remaining in the half. The Bucs held the lead for most of the half, but a Chargers three-pointer rattled home as the halftime buzzer rang, giving UAH (21-6, 14-5 GSC) its first lead, 38-37.
  • UAH knocked down five of its first seven shots to start the second half, but Brad Miller hit a three-pointer to cut the UAH lead to 48-47, with 15:28 left. 
  • Over the next 8:40, the Chargers scored 23 unanswered points to take control of the game. 
  • The Bucs were unable to get within 20, as the hosts finished the final 6:47 with a 12-8 advantage to finish the game. 
KEY STATS:
  • Adam Dieball led CBU with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes.
  • Guard Luke Rudy was the only other CBU player to finish the game in double-figures, scoring with 12 points. 
  • UAH finished the game 31-of-53 (58.5 percent) from the floor and 15-of-26 (57.7 percent) from three-point range.

  • The Bucs are scheduled to close out the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Union. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
