Lytle, Taylor Earn GSC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama- The Gulf South Conference has named Christian Brothers University sophomore guard Brynne Lytle its Player of the Week and freshman forward Lauren Taylor as its Freshman of the Week.

In the 71-67 overtime victory over West Georgia, on Saturday, Feb. 2, Lytle tallied her second 30 point game of the season, scoring 31 points. The Jackson, Tenn., native also had four rebounds, four assists, and a steal, while shooting an impressive 62 percent (8-13 FG) from the field and a perfect 100 percent from the free throw line (12-12 FT).

Lytle is just the second Lady Buc to win multiple Player of the Week Awards in a season, following Samantha Reeves who won the award three times in 2016-17.

On the week, Lytle averaged 25 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.5 steals, while shooting 52 percent (14-27 FG) from the field and perfect from the free throw line (19-19 FT).

Taylor totaled 12 points, five rebounds, and a block in 38 minutes as she helped lead the Lady Bucs in the win over UWG. She is the third Lady Buc to earn Freshman of the Week honors since the award started (2014-15), following Lytle (four times) and Rachel Lee (twice). Taylor finished the two games averaging 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals, while shooting 59 percent from the field.

The Lady Bucs have won four of their last five, and return to action Thursday, Feb. 7 as they travel to Cleveland, Miss., to face Delta State. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
