Bucs Triumph On Road Over Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team bested Delta State on the road 70-64 in Walter Sillers Coliseum, completing the season sweep of the Statesmen and marking the Bucs eighth win in the last nine games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Things started off tightly contested, with neither team gaining an edge early. Going into the first media timeout, the game remained as it started, tied, with 15:52 remaining in the first half.

CBU (16-7, 11-4 GSC) responded with a 21-4 run to take a 31-20 lead with 3:33 remaining in the first half. During that run, CBU recorded assists on all four made three-pointers.
  • The Bucs led 34-24 going into the half.
  • The Statesmen ripped off a 9-2 run to start the second half, chipping away at the Bucs lead. Delta State (14-8, 10-5 GSC) even tied the game at 42 with 12:04 remaining off a tip-in from Cameron Burkett.
  • With 5:45 left in the game, another Burkett layup gave Delta State their largest lead of the second half at 58-53. The Bucs used a 17-4 run at the end of the second half, including an 11-2 run in the final 2:34 of the game. Forward Luke Rudy broke the tie with 2:34 with a three-pointer and the Bucs never looked back.
