Bucs Defeat Shorter in Series Finale

ROME, Georgia- The Christian Brothers University Bucs used a five run fourth inning to power by the Shorter Hawks 7-5 Monday afternoon.


FINAL SCORE (7 innings): CBU (6-14, 3-9 GSC) 7, Shorter (12-8, 5-6 GSC) 5

GAME CHANGER
  • Kyle Hindman's two RBI single, in the fourth inning, capped off a big five run inning which gave the Bucs the lead they held for the rest of the game. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • CBU outhit the Hawks 12-7.
  • Griffin Miller recorded his second win of the season.
  • Three CBU hitters finished the game with a multi-hit game. J.D. Goodspeed and Hindman both finished with three hits, while Garett Reason-Kerkhoff tallied two. Shorter had two batters that recorded more than a single hit.
  • Hindman tallied his second consecutive game with two RBIs. 

KEY PLAYS
  • CBU tallied the first run of the game, in the top of the first frame, coming from Jaime Soto scoring on a Shorter passed ball (1-0).
  • The Hawks answered right back with a RBI double in the bottom of the first (1-1).
  • Shorter took a 3-1 lead, in the third, when they capitalized off a few CBU errors.
  • CBU retook the lead, in the fourth, when they capped a huge five run inning, which gave the Bucs the lead they held for the rest of the contest.
  • The Hawks rounded out the scoring of the game, in the bottom of the seventh, when their starting designated hitter doubled home a run (7-5).
  • A downpour of rain came at the conclusion of the seventh inning and stopped the game, leading to a CBU 7-5 victory.
