Flames Sweep Twin Bill Against Bucs

CLEVELAND, Tennessee- The Lee University Flames capitalized off of an impressive offensive day as they swept the doubleheader against the Christian Brothers University Bucs on Saturday afternoon.


GAME 1: Lee (13-15, 5-6 GSC) 14, CBU (8-19, 4-12 GSC) 6

GAME CHANGER
  • The Flames plated eight runs, in the bottom of the sixth, to land them the 12-5 lead.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Both teams combined for 28 base knocks, which resulted in 20 runs.
  • Lee outhit CBU 18-11.
  • All nine of the Flames' starters tallied a hit in the game.
  • Cramer hit his first home run of the season.
  • Four of the nine starters for the Bucs tallied a multi-hit game. Keagan Voss led the way with three knocks, while Jared Cramer, Jeff Goodwin, and Travis Cole notched two hits.
  • Cramer led the Bucs' offense with three RBIs, while Cole tallied two.

KEY PLAYS
  • The Bucs jumped out to an early lead when Cole knocked in a RBI in the first and third innings, which gave CBU the 2-0 lead.
  • Lee answered back in the bottom half of the third inning with four runs of their own (4-2).
  • Back-to-back RBI singles by Jaime Soto and Cramer, in the fourth, tied the score at four.
  • Cramer smoked a ball over the right field wall to give the Bucs the 5-4 lead in the top half of the sixth.
  • The Flames strung together eight hits, while the Bucs committed two errors in the bottom of the sixth inning which helped them bring home eight runs (12-5).
  • Another Cramer RBI, in the eight, added another run to the Bucs' total, but it wasn't enough as Lee was victorious 14-6.


GAME 2: Lee (14-15, 6-6) 7, CBU (8-20, 4-13) 2

  GAME CHANGER
  • The Flames exploded for five runs, in the sixth inning, which gave them the 7-2 lead they held until the final pitch.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • CBU was held to only a single hit.
  • Hunter Howard led CBU's offense with the only hit and RBI's the Bucs recorded.
  • Ryan Taylor threw well as he finished with five innings pitched, while only allowing one earned run and striking out four hitters.
  • Lee's starter, Logan Workman, earned his third win of the season.

KEY PLAYS
  • A solo home run and a throwing error led to a 2-0 lead for Lee in the first inning.
  • CBU did their only scoring, in the fourth frame, when Howard doubled to left center to tie things up at two.
  • The Flames rounded out the scoring for the game, in the sixth inning, when they strung together three hits, which led to five runs to give them the 7-2 victory.

  • The Bucs finish the series against Lee on Sunday, March 23rd. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
