Bucs Drop Series Finale Against Lee

CLEVELAND. Tennessee- The Lee University Flames used a six run second inning and a five run fifth inning to power by the Christian Brothers University Bucs, in the series finale, 13-2 Sunday afternoon.

  GAME CHANGER
  • Lee's first baseman, Miguel Pimentel, smoked a double to left field to bring home three Flames' runners, which capped off a six run second inning.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lee's first baseman finished the game with six RBIs.
  • The Bucs' hurlers walked 10 Flames' hitters.
  • Garett Reason-Kerkhoff led CBU's offense with two hits, while J.D. Goodspeed was the only other CBU hitter to tally a base knock. 
  • Lee outhit CBU 12-3.
  • Jared Cramer, Jeff Goodwin, and Reason-Kerkhoff recorded a stolen base.
  • Lee's starter, Alan Rickman, recorded his first victory on the mound this season as he finished the contest tossing five innings, while only allowing two hits and two earned runs.

KEY PLAYS
  • The Flames jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning as they strung together four hits and capitalized off of a CBU throwing error.
  • CBU answered back with their only scoring of the game, in the following inning, when Cramer scored on a throwing error and Goodspeed smacked a double down the left field line to bring home Keagan Voss.
  • Lee erupted for another big inning, in the fifth, to extend their lead to nine (11-2).
  • The Flames rounded out the scoring for the game, in the sixth frame, with a runner being walked home and Pimentel hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home his final RBI of the game (13-2).
