Weevils Use Big Inning to Sink Bucs

MONTICELLO, Arkansas- Arkansas Monticello used a 10 run fourth inning to power by the Christian Brothers University Bucs 19-9 Tuesday afternoon.


FINAL SCORE (7 innings): UAM (7-8) 19, CBU (5-12) 9

GAME CHANGER
  • The Weevils parked two home runs in the bottom half of the fourth frame to cap off a 10 run inning.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Both teams combined for 29 base hits, which resulted in 28 runs.
  • Both teams had multiple hitters with a multi-hit game. CBU's Keagan Voss and Luke Wewers finished the game with three hits a piece, while Garett Reason-Kerkhoff totaled two. Six hitters for the Weevils had multiple hits in the contest.
  • Wewers led the Bucs with three RBIs and Bailey Jones finished the game with two. Seven UAM batters brought home multiple runs.

KEY PLAYS
  • A Jones double to the right center gap, in the top of the second inning, helped lead the Bucs to an explosive 5-0 lead.
  • The Weevils retook the lead in the bottom of the second frame after they strung together some hits and plated six runs.
  • Wewers' two RBI single down the left field line, in the third inning, capped off a three run inning which helped CBU retake the lead.
  • UAM tallied 10 runs after roping nine hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to help the Weevils to their 19-9 victory.
