UT-Martin Tops Bucs

MARTIN, Tennessee- The UT Martin Skyhawks' offense was clicking on all cylinders as they defeated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 18-2 Wednesday evening.

GAME CHANGER
  • The Skyhawks jumped out to a six run lead, in the bottom half of the first frame, and held that lead until the final out of the ballgame.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • UTM outhit CBU 16-5.
  • The Skyhawks' catcher, Blake Davis, tallied six RBIs in the game.
  • There was a total of 25 strikeouts in the ballgame.
  • Three UT Martin batters were hit by a pitch.
  • Keagan Voss and Jaime Soto led the Bucs' offense with two hits. Soto and J.D Goodspeed knocked in the only runs the Bucs tallied.

KEY PLAYS
  • The Bucs got on the board first, in the second frame, as they capitalized off of a base knock and a UTM error (1-0).
  • The Skyhawks grabbed the lead, in the bottom of the first, when they plated seven runs (7-1).
  • In the top half of the third, Voss smacked a double to left field, which was followed by a Soto single. Goodspeed then knocked in Voss (8-2).
  • UT Martin scored 10 unanswered runs from the fourth inning to the eight inning and came away with the 18-2 victory.
