Harding Slips by Bucs for 4-2 Victory

SEARCY, Arkansas- The Harding University Bisons used two late runs to lift them to a 4-2 victory over Christian Brothers University Tuesday afternoon.

GAME CHANGER
  • The Bisons plated two runs, in the late inning, which gave them the two run lead they held until the final out. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Harding outhit CBU 10-6
  • The Blazers' starter, Zach Blankenship, threw six innings, while allowing only one earned run, four hits and striking out two CBU hitters.
  • CBU's starter, Tyler Flynn, also had a strong outing. His stat line for the game was: five innings pitched, six strikeouts, and he allowed only one run.
  • Larry Hubbard and Jeff Goodwin both finished the game with two base knocks.
  • Jared Cramer recorded a triple in the ballgame.
  • Four Bisons' starters recorded a multi-hit contest. 

KEY PLAYS
  • Harding scored the first run in the ballgame, in the second frame, with a double down the right field line (1-0).
  • The Bisons extended their lead to two runs when Fertig hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning (2-0).
  • Goodwin helped the Bucs chip away at the lead, in the fifth frame, when he smoked a single to centerfield to bring home Hubbard (2-1).
  • Cramer scorched a triple in the left center gap, in the following inning, and scored on the same play when Harding committed a throwing error (2-2).
