Ouachita Baptist Hits Way to Win Over Bucs

MEMPHIS, Tennessee- The Ouachita Baptist Tigers used an impressive offensive day to defeat the Christian Brothers University Buccaneers 9-2 Tuesday afternoon.

GAME CHANGER
  • The Tigers brought home at least one run in each of the first five innings, which led to a 7-0 lead.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Ouachita's starter and first reliever out of the pen combined for seven scoreless innings.
  • Garett Reason-Kerkhoff and Bailey Jones led the Bucs' offense with the only two RBIs in the contest. 
  • Hunter Howard, Jared Cramer, and Reason-Kerkhoff finished the game with two base knocks.
  • Howard and Reason-Kerkhoff are on three game hitting streaks.
  • Three OBU starters finished with three hits.
  • The Tigers outhit the Bucs 16-8.

KEY PLAYS
  • Ouachita Baptist got on the board first, in the top of the first frame, when a sac-fly brought home the first run (1-0).
  • A double to right field extended the Tigers' lead to 2-0 in the second inning.
  • The Tigers piled on two more runs, in the following frame, which pushed the score to 4-0.
  • Ouachita brought runs in to score in the fourth and fifth frames to extend the Tigers' lead to 7-0.
  • Jones scorched a double into the left center gap, in the eight inning, to bring home Jeff Goodwin. This helped the Bucs chip away at the lead (7-1). Reason-Kerkhoff then smoked a line-drive over the shortstops head to plate Jones for the Bucs' second run of the ballgame (7-2).
  • The Tigers rounded out the scoring for the game, in the final frame, when a single to centerfield brought home two runners (9-2).
