St. Charles, Mo. - Ivan Segui scored a pair of goals, including the match-winner with just 34 seconds left to lift the Christian Brothers University men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Lindenwood, on Friday at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium. Friday's match was the season opener for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Offense was at a premium in the opening half, as the Bucs outshot the hosts 3-2.
- The Bucs nearly took the lead, in the 68th minute, when Habib Binate saw his free kick, from close range, saved by Lindenwood.
- CBU took the lead in the 80th minute when Segui recieved a pass, on the counter attack, from Maxi Galizzi, and put it in the bottom left corner.
- Lindenwood equalized with just two minutes remaining when it scored following a scramble in front of goal.
- With the match semmingly headed for overtime, Segui took a pass, near the top of the box from Nithan Ramanathan and slotted it home.
KEY STATS:
- Viktor Hoestbo, finished the contest with two saves in front of a defense that allowed just six shots.
- The Bucs finished the match with an 11-6 advantage in shots.
- CBU won the contest despite committing 20 fouls.
