Maryville Scores Two in Second Half to Knock off Bucs

St. Louis - The Christian Brothers University men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Maryville scored a pair of goals in the second half to earn a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Maryville Field.   

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Ivan Segui gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead, in the 21st minute, when headed home a corner kick from James Raptis. 
  • The teams recorded just two shots during th final 24 minutes of the first half. 
  • Maryville found the equalizer just four minutes into the second half. 
  • Two minutes later, Raptis had his shot saved by Maryville goalkeeper Liam Walraven. 
  • The Saints scored what proved to be the winner in the 64th minute. 
  • Following the goal the Bucs had two of the final three shots of the match, but could not find the equalizer. 

KEY STATS: 
  • Viktor Hoestbo, finished the contest with three saves. 
  • Maryville finished the match with an 9-7 advantage in shots. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE: 
  • Maryville has defeated the Bucs 2-1 in all three meetings between the two sides. 

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs open the home portion of their schedule whent they face Bethel, in non-conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
