MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University Bucs and the University of Montevallo Falcons played a tightly contested matchup Saturday afternoon. The Falcons held a 10 point advantage at halftime, which held to be enough to defeat the Bucs 76-67.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the most of the first half, the Falcons held a small lead with CBU nipping at their heels, but never being able to knot things up or take the lead.
- A Brad Miller three ball (assist Aiden Ruthsatz) with 13:50 remaining in the first half, brought the Bucs within one point from the lead (14-13), which ended up being the closest they would get for the rest of the half.
- Montevallo went into the locker rooms at the half with a 10 point advantage (41-31).
- The Bucs came out of the half with tons of energy and was able to tie things up 47-47 coming from a dunk by Jaret Gassett (13:46 remaining in the second half).
- The Falcons began to pull away with the lead, but the Bucs stormed back and a Malik Jones jumper with 7:37 left in the contest locked things up 58-58.
- Montevallo used a 12-0 scoring run, minutes later, to pull away with the 76-67 victory.
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Daryl Lewis led the offensive attack for CBU with 16 points. He also recorded four boards, and three assists.
- Brad Miller scored all 12 of his points from the long ball. Miller tallied eight assists, three rebounds, and a steal as well. Joshua
- Joshua Jackson and Mitchell Mays also poured in double digit points. Jackson finished with 12 and Mays ended with 10.
- Mays and Gassett reeled in a career high number of rebounds with seven.
- All five starters for the Falcons recorded double digit points, while four-of-five of CBU's starters did the same.
