Late Shot Lifts Mississippi College to Victory Over Bucs

CLINTON, Miss. - Mississippi College knocked down a three pointer with 10 seconds left to give it a 78-73 victory over the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team, on Thursday night, at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • MC jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but the Bucs bounced back to tie the game at 18, with 10:54 left in the half. 
  • CBU took a brief lead, 27-24, but the Choctaws took a 36-34 lead into halftime. 
  • Early in the second half, the Bucs went over seven minutes without a bucket to help MC extend its lead to 50-40, with 11:17 left. 
  • The Bucs responded, going on an 11-3 run to cut the lead to 53-51, with 7:46 left. 
  • CBU scored 10 of the next 17 points to take a 63-58 lead, with 4:42 left. 
  • After the teams traded buckets oer the next three minutes, the hosts used a pair of free throws to lead 71-69, with 1:09 remaining. 
  • Brad Miller gave the Bucs a 72-69 lead, on a long range bomb, with 54 seconds left. 
  • After Malik Jones split a pair of free throws, Winceton Edwards nailed a contested three, that proved to be the game winner, with 10 seconds left. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • CBU finished the game shooting just 38 percent (19-of-50) from the floor. The Bucs converted 10 of their 23 three point attempts. 
  • MC finished 26-for-53 from the floor (49 percent), but were just 2-for-12 from three point range. 
  • Both teams shot 32 free throws apiece. CBU converted 25 of its free throws, while MC knocked down 24. 
  • CBU was 18-for-21 from the free throw line.
  • The Bucs finished the game with a 36-31 edge on the glass. 
  • Miller lead CBU with a game-high 21 points, while adding three rebounds and five assists. 
  • Daryl Lewis added 16 points, while Mitchell Mays fiished with 14 points and nine boards. 
  • The victory for MC was the first for the Choctaws in the 11 game series history.
