Late Run Helps Bucs Earn Victory at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team finished the final 7:10 on a 14-6 run to earn a 67-58 victory over Delta State, on Saturday evening, at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both defenses were on showcase, as the Statesmen held an 15-14 lead with 10:01 left in the first half. 
  • DSU closed the final 3:10 of the half on a 6-0 run to take a 31-26 lead into halftime. 
  • Following back-to-back buckets by CBU, the Statesmen scored five straight to push their lead back to 36-30.
  • Neither team led by more than five points for the next 12 minutes. 
  • DSU got a layup from Keyshaun Street to give it a 53-52 lead with 7:10 left in the contest. 
  • The Bucs responded, scoring the next 11 points, to take the lead for good. Eight of the 11 points, during the run, came from Daryl Lewis
  • CBU held the Statesmen to just six points in the final 7:10. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • CBU finished the game shooting 46 percent (27-of-58) from the floor, including 16-of-29 in the second half. The Bucs earned the win despite going just 6-of-20 from three point range. 
  • The Bucs finished with 16 assists on 27 made baskets. CBU also won the rebounding battle 34-26. 
  • DSU finished 23-for-49 from the floor (47 percent), but were just 5-for-19 from three point range. 
  • Brad Miller lead CBU with 21 points, while adding seven assists and and four rebounds, with just one turnover. 
  • Daryl Lewis added 14 points, and seven boards.
  • Joshua Jackson tied his career high with 14 points, and also grabbed eight rebounds. Jackson was 7-of-10 from the floor. 
  • The Bucs have now won three straight games in Cleveland. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, Jan. 23 when they host Shorter. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
