MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team scored a season-high 92 points and held on for a 92-85 victory over visiting Shorter, on Thursday night, at Canale Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams traded back-and-forth blows in the first half. Each team would string together a scoring run, but the other team would answer right back with a run for themselves.
- A barrage of three pointers made the first half a high scoring contest. A total of 29 three pointers were taken in the first 20 minutes of the contest. Brad Miller and Jay Shropshire sunk four each in the first half.
- The first half was evenly played as both teams went into the locker room knotted up at 47-47.
- The start of the second half looked to be controlled by CBU. A Daryl Lewis jumper, with 6:14 remaining in the contest, extended the Bucs' lead to 14 points (83-70).
- The Hawks put together an impressive 11-0 scoring run with 3:47 remaining in the game, but CBU was able to hold off the comeback effort as they pulled away with a seven point victory (92-85).
KEY STATS | NOTABLES:
- Aiden Ruthsatz set a new career high in points in a contest with 20. He also tallied five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
- Miller led the offensive attack for the Bucs with 22 points. This is his fourth consecutive contest with at least 20 points.
- Miller recorded a double-double with 22 points and 13 assists.
- Miller sunk 5 threes in the contest and Ruthsatz was able to record four.
- Lewis, Mitchell Mays, and Jaret Gassett were also able to tally double digit points. Lewis ended the contest with 19 points, Mays recorded 13, and Gassett tallied 10.
- Lewis came away with five steals in the contest. This is the second time this season he has recorded five steals.
- The Bucs' 92 points are the most they have recorded in a contest since Jan. 24, 2019. They were able to record 112 against the Hawks in that game.
