Lee Holds off Bucs to Earn Series Win

MEMPHIS – Lee scored five unanswered runs and held on for a 7-6 victory over the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Sunday, at Nadicksbernd Field. 

With the victory, Lee earned the series win. The Bucs left a pair of runners stranded in the sixth and the bases loaded in the ninth. 
 
FINAL SCORE: LEE 7 (10-7, 3-3 GSC) CBU 6 (3-13, 1-8 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- Trailing 6-2, in the fourth, the Flames scored four runs to tie the game. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Flames outhit the Bucs 12-11.
Jaime Soto led CBU at the plate finishing 3-for-3 with three singles, two walks, an RBI and a run scored. 
- Keegan Voss went 3-for-5 with a double, two singles, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.    
- Will Turner drove in a pair of runs with a double. 
- Starting pitcher Nick Meyers allowed seven runs, on 11 hits, in six innings of work. Meyers was relieved in the seventh by Travis Cole, who gave up just one hit. 

KEY PLAYS:
- After CBU loaded the bases, with no outs, in the second Lee struck out back-to-back CBU batters. With the Flames an out away from getting out of a jam, Will Turner roped a double            
  to left center that tied the game at two.  
- CBU put up a four spot, in the third, using RBI singles from Soto and Keegan Voss, an RBI groundout from J.D. Goodspeed and an RBI single from Reid Voss
- The visitors responded, putting up four runs to tie the game at six. 
- The Flames took advantage of an error to score what proved to be the game-winning run, in the sixth. 
- CBU left a pair of runners on in the sixth. The Bucs had runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth, but relief pitcher Michael Hendrix forced a groundout to get the
  second out of the inning. After Hendrix walked pinch hitter Jamarion White, Hendrix got another groundout to end the game. 

NOTEWORTHY:
- Keegan Voss had a season high three hits.
- The Bucs left 12 runners on base.
- The Bucs had a season high 10 walks.

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 4 when they host Lane College. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
