Bucs Fall in Slugfest at Alabama Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Christian Brothers University baseball team recorded a season-high 13 hits, but it was not enough as Alabama Huntsville hit its way to a 19-9 victory, on Sunday, at Charger Park. 

With the win, UAH swept the series over the Bucs.

GAME CHANGER:
- The Chargers scored six runs in two different innings. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Chargers finished the game with a 19-13 advantage in hits. 
- CBU had four extra base hits. 
- Five different Bucs recorded multiple hits. 
- Garett Reason-Kerkhoff was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double. Connor McTeer finished 2-for-3 with a 3 RBI double. 
- Ben Brocato, Keagan Voss and Luke Wewers had two hits apiece.

KEY PLAYS:
- After UAH took a 1-0 lead in the first, Kerkhoff's home run put the Bucs up 3-1. 
- The Chargers responded, plating six runs, on five hits, to take a 7-3 lead. 
- After both teams scored a run in the third, McTeer's bases clearing double got the Bucs to within 8-7.
- UAH answered again, scoring three in the bottom of the fourth and six in the fifth. 
- CBU scored its final runs of the game in the sixth when Wewers had an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch. 
- UAH finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. 

NOTEWORTHY:
- The 13 CBU hits are a season high. 
- The nine runs are the second most scored by the Bucs this season. 
- Wewers now leads the team with four doubles. 
- The home run for Reason-Kerkhoff is the first of his career. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 10 when they host Arkansas Tech. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
