Bucs Earn Road Victory at Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team outscored Mississippi College 33-27, in the second half, to earn a 67-62 win, on Friday night, at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bucs took multiple seven point leads in the opening half, but the Choctaws used a 17-9 spurt to take a 35-34 lead at the break. 
  • After the teams traded the lead in the opening six minutes of the second half the Bucs extended their lead, to 48-43, with 13:09 left. . 
  • After a pair of MC free throws tied the game at 53, with 5:30 left, the Bucs did not trail for the remainder of the game. 
  • With 2:18 left, Aiden Ruthsatz knocked down a three pointer to give CBU a narrow 63-58 lead. 
  • The Bucs knocked down their final four free throws to hold on for the win. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The victory over the Choctaws marks the first road win for CBU since an 83-70 triumph over Shorter, nearly a year to the day (1.30.19).
  • CBU converted 16 of its 19 free throws and 7-of-17 from long-range. 
  • The Bucs turned 19 MC turnovers into 19 points. The hosts managed just seven points off 19 CBU miscues. 
  • CBU held the hosts to just 8-for-18 from the floor in the second half. 
  • The Bucs finished the game with a 27-26 edge on the glass.
  • CBU finished the game with 15 assists on 22 made field goals.  
  • Aiden Ruthsatz stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. 
  • Nick Deifel led the Bucs with 15 points, while Daryl Lewis chipped in 14. 
  • Jordan Graham finished with a CBU career-best 10 points.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30 when they wrap up the doubleheader with Mississippi College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
