Mississippi College Uses Second Half Surge to Beat Bucs

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bucs raced out to a 15-12 lead in the opening five minutes of the contest.
  • The Bucs continued their strong shooting performance as they shot 69% (18-of-26) in the opening half to lead 41-34 at the break.
  • In the opening 10 minutes of the second half, Mississippi College outscored the Bucs 23-16 to tie the game at 57. 
  • With 4:35 left, Galen Smith, of MC, knocked down a pair of free throws to take a 69-67 lead.
  • MC outscored the Bucs 12-9 to end the game to complete the comeback win.

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES
  • Mississippi College shot 59 percent from the field and 18-for-21 from the free throw line. 
  • The Bucs finished 60 percent from the field (31-of-52) and 50 percent (8-for-16) from 3-point range. 
  • Aiden Ruthsatz led the Bucs with 33 points (career-high), including 7-of-10 from three point range. The seven made three pointers tied a career-high that he set on 1/25/20 against West Georgia. .
  • Christian Jones finished with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and recorded a career high five steals. The five steals are the most by a Buc, since Joe Lavarie recorded five in a game on 1/15/18 against West Florida.
  • Daniel Loos rounded out the double figure scorers with 14 points and three rebounds.
  • The Bucs outrebounded Mississippi College 24-22.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Jan. 2 when they return home to take on conference foe West Georgia. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
