Bucs See Comeback Fall Short in Loss to LeMoyne-Owen

MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team trailed by as many as 15 points, but saw its comeback effort fall short, in a 73-66 loss to LeMoyne-Owen, on Tuesday night, at Canale Arena. 

With the win, the Magicians claimed the season series 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Bucs had an early 7-6 lead the visitors used a 19-6 run to take a 26-12 lead, with 8:46 left in the half.  
  • Trailing 35-20, the Bucs scored nine of the final 11 points to cut the halftime deficit to 37-29. 
  • The Magicians led by nine (46-37) six minutes into the second half, but the Bucs went on a 15-6 run to tie the game at 52, with 9:23 left. 
  • After the Bucs saw LOC score the next six points, Nick Deifel scored six straight points to get CBU back within two points, with 4:18 left. 
  • The Magicians closed out the game holding CBU to three of its last nine from the floor. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Bucs were held to just 35 percent from the floor (25-of-72), including just 5-of-23 from three point range. 
  • LeMoyne-Owen was 25-of-48 from the field, and made just of its four three point attempts. 
  • Nick Deifel led CBU with 22 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. 
  • Christian Jones added 13 points, and Aiden Ruthsatz chipped in 10 points. 
  • Jaquan Lawrence finished with 21 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks to lead the visitors. 
  • The Bucs finished with a 41-34 edge on the glass. 
  • LOC was 22-for-26 from the free throw line, while the Bucs were 11-of-16.
