No. 10 Alabama Huntsville Holds off Bucs

MEMPHIS - No. 10 Alabama Huntsville scored 46 points in the paint, and shot 54 percent in a 76-69 victory over the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team, on Sunday, at Canale Arena. 

With the win, the Chargers earned the series sweep of the Bucs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UAH continued its hot shooting from Saturday's win, as it led by as many as eight points in the early stages of the first half. 
  • With 1:15 left in the half, Sam Orf knocked down a jumper to give UAH a 35-25 lead. 
  • Nick Deifel answered with a three pointer, helping CBU cut the lead to 35-28. 
  • Orf was fouled on a three pointer, with less than one second left, which helped the visitors take a 37-28 lead into halftime. 
  • UAH led by as many as 13 points early in the second half. 
  • The Bucs came storming back, going on a 21-12 run to cut the lead to 55-51.
  • UAH responded of a 15-2 run of its own to go up 70-53 with just over four minutes left in the game.
  • CBU scored 16 of the final 22 points to cut into the final margin. 

KEY STATS | NOTEABLES:
  • The Chargers shot 54 percent (29-of-54) from the floor. A day after going a scorching 12-of-16 from long-range, UAH finished just 5-of-18 in this contest.  
  • After a 37 percent effort in the first half, CBU was 15-of-26 in the second 20 minutes, and finished 47 percent for the game (26-of-55).
  • The Bucs were outrebounded 28-25.
  • CBU finished with a season-low 10 turnovers in back-to-back games. 
  • Aiden Ruthsatz finished with 17 points and tied for a team-high with four rebounds. 
  • Daniel Loos and Deifel chipped in 13 points apiece. The 13 points for Loos were a career-high. 
  • Daryl Lewis rounded out the CBU double figure scorers with 11.

  • The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, Feb. 19 when they host West Alabama. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
